Information

A copy of Daredevil #191 (1983) graded by CGC (5.5) and signed by Frank Miller. Daredevil #191 is a pivotal and dramatic issue published by Marvel Comics in February 1983. Although a stand-alone story, it is part of a particularly celebrated creative period for the character, written and drawn by the legendary Frank Miller, with inks by Klaus Janson. The story revolves around an alleged murder: that of Foggy Nelson, Matt Murdock's best friend, business partner, and fellow lawyer. The comic opens with a flashback sequence, as Matt Murdock (Daredevil) grieves and mourns the loss of his longtime friend. The episode is an intense exploration of Matt's psyche, as he grapples with the guilt of keeping Foggy in the dark about his secret identity as Daredevil, believing that his double life somehow led to his friend's death. The comic's true emotional and narrative impact lies in the final twist: it turns out that Foggy Nelson's death was actually an induced dream or hallucination Matt was experiencing. This narrative device allows Miller to explore Matt Murdock's deepest fears about his secret identity and the people he loves, without having to actually kill off a pivotal character in the series. Daredevil #191 is remembered as a masterpiece of introspective and dramatic storytelling, typical of Miller's time on the title.
