Wilhelm Schiller began producing porcelain and earthenware in Bodenbach, Bohemia, in 1829, operating under the name Schiller and Gerbing.
In 1885, the company was dissolved and reorganized under the name Wilhelm Schiller & Son, remaining active until the outbreak of World War I.
It is uncertain whether the firm of Schiller and Gerbing produced majolica; however, the later Wilhelm Schiller & Son is clearly recognized as the most prolific of the Bohemian majolica manufactories.
