Information

Alberto Tomba autographed card, published by Panini for the "Italia in pista" Milano Cortina 2026 series. Limited to 250 copies. First ever autographed card by Tomba. Alberto Tomba, nicknamed "Tomba the Bomb" for his explosive power and extroverted personality, is a true legend of Italian sport who revolutionized the image of alpine skiing in the 1980s and 1990s. A key figure in technical events, he was the only skier to win at least one World Cup race for eleven consecutive seasons, racking up a total of 50 victories and earning the overall Crystal Globe in 1995. His Olympic record is extraordinary, with three gold and two silver medals between 1988 and 1994, making him the first athlete in the history of skiing to win in the same event for two consecutive editions of the Games. In addition to his Olympic successes, he added two world titles in 1996 at Sierra Nevada and eight World Cups in his disciplines. Despite retiring in 1998, winning his last race in Crans-Montana, his cultural impact remains indelible; he was recently honored as one of the final torchbearers at the opening ceremony of the 2026 Milan-Cortina Olympics, a testament to the popular affection that still today sees him as one of the greatest exponents of Italian sporting history.
