The inscription " GAMES OF THE XVII OLYMPICS " is engraved on the circular guard.
Designed by archaeologist Amedeo Maiuri and inspired by ancient Roman torches, it was produced by the CURTISA company of BOLOGNA , in bronze. The base of the torch bears the MF Curtisa Bologna hallmark, with its serial number 3321.
It measures approximately 397mm tall and is in excellent condition with normal signs of age.
