Rare commercial flag of the famous British manufacturer SIEBE GORMAN AND COMPANY (1819)

Made of white and red cotton fabric, featuring the SIEBE GORMAN AND COMPANY logo and emblem .
The flag features the cross of St. George (red cross on a white background, stitched); in the center, a large stitched medallion, within a circular frame, with the characteristic hand-painted brass DIVER'S HELMET, the iconic symbol of the company, with the inscription " SIEBE GORMAN AND COMPANY ", and underneath, a stitched scroll " 1819 ".
(year of foundation). The flag features the same design on both sides, with the logo and wording sewn on.

To complete the lot there is a small decorative metal anchor (brass or steel), a gadget from the company itself.

Measures approximately 250x180 cm, with edge reinforcement, rope and fastening ring, original from the late 19th/early 20th century, in excellent condition

SIEBE GORMAN AND COMPANY was founded in London in 1819 by Augustus Siebe, a German-born British engineer and a pioneer of diving equipment. The company developed the first airtight, closed diving suit.
(c. 1837), the progenitor of all modern diving equipment. For over a century, Siebe Gorman was the principal supplier of diving equipment to the British Royal Navy and numerous other navies worldwide, as well as to oceanographic research and civilian underwater work.
