On the obverse, a three-quarter-length bust of Columbus to the left between allegorical figures of America and Europe holding hands and a globe. Below: an eagle with outstretched wings. On the obverse , an allegorical scene of winged civilization among cherubs appearing to the native peoples of America, surrounded by the coats of arms of the states of the two Americas.
