Bearing the marks of the silversmith Khlebnikov with imperial warrant and the assayer Anatoly Apollonovich Artsybashev, Moscow, 1890.
The crucifix is covered with a silver and parcel-gilt silver revetment, leaving visible the body of Christ, rendered with realism, and the face and hands of God the Father, above which appears the inscription “ІНЦІ” (Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews). Beside Christ’s body are the lance and the sponge; at his feet, on Mount Golgotha, the cave is depicted with naturalistic detail, showing the skull of Adam, symbol of humankind redeemed through Christ’s sacrifice. The drapery in silver and gilt silver, chased and finely worked, is realistically rendered in its folds; the halos are raised with pierced borders.
