Frontispiece in red and black with copper engraved vignette, woodcut friezes and initials, 1 copper plate on the reverse of 3F4, light browning, slight water gora at the top white margin, coeval full leather binding, back with 6 nerves, title and decorations engraved in gold, restorations, defects. Ex libris on the title page.

Second edition of the most important work written by the Jesuit priest Marc Gilbert de Varennes (1591-1660), the first edition is from 1635.
