Provenance

The model
The Porsche 911 Carrera 4S is part of the 996 mk2 series, the first evolution of the 996, which in turn was the first 911 model with a liquid cooled engine. The 996 4S was added to the product list in 2002, during the restyling of the range, a real "facelift" with a new design of the front headlights, which on the first 996 model had received negative remarks from purists and press alike as the "fried egg" design and for the similarity to the headlights of the Boxster, the entry level model of the Stuttgart company; the restyling also affected other external details, such as the front air intake and rear lights. The Carrera 4S 996 inherits the chassis, brakes and some parts of the body of the Turbo 996 presented in 2000. The body is distinguished from the latter by the absence of the rear wing and the side air intakes, while on the rear a red band joining the rear lights which will become the hallmark of the Carrera 4S; also the 18” wheels are the same as the Turbo but with the wording on the 4S hub. The engine is the evolution of the 3.4 liter M96 of the 996 series brought to 3.6 liters with 320 hp, (instead of the 300 hp of the Carrera 2 and Targa), equipped with the VarioCam plus, a phase variator that regulates the lift of the valves for maximum performance at high engine speeds. The transmission relies on a 6-speed manual transmission or, alternatively, on the semi-automatic Tiptronic 5-speed transmission; the traction, as in all Carrera 4 is all-wheeldrive, the PSM system, Porsche stability Management, better known as ESP, is provided as standard, which guarantees greater safety and a fluid and dynamic car performance. With a maximum speed of 280 km/h, an acceleration of just five seconds from 0-100 km/h and excellent traction, the 911 Carrera 4S is thrilling to drive, giving lap times of a true sports car, with performance slightly lower than the 996 Turbo equipped with an engine which is 100 hp more powerful. In 2004 the sports version of the Carrera was introduced: the GT3 mk2 with naturally aspirated 380 hp engine. Between 2003 and '04 a special model was built, with only 682 vehicles produced, with a lightened passenger compartment and bodywork and a serigraph that recalls the 2.7 RS of the 70s: the 911 GT3 RS, the first GT3 RS in Porsche history. The 996 Carrera 4S will remain in production until 2005.
The car
The Porsche 996 Carrera 4S, chassis no.WP0ZZZ99Z2S605030, was built in 2002, has travelled only 40,000 km and has had two previous owners. It comes from the cars chosen for the Saottini Collection. The car is preserved and the bodywork shows no signs of discoloration or wear, the interiors are in their original gray leather in an exquisitely preserved condition. The car is accompanied by the use and maintenance manual of the period, with the documentation on its service history, all performed at Porsche centers. The car’s accessories are: parking sensors and sunroof; Techart sports tailpipes are mounted on the rear.
